4 Inspirational Tennis Mamas.

4 Inspirational Tennis Mamas.

At Cadenshae, we love tennis, it's such an exciting and elegant sport!

We wanted to share our favourite tennis mums with you. Women who not only inspire us as athletes, but as mothers too. These ladies are a reminder that if you have a goal in mind...keep working at it...you might just surprise yourself.

Kim Clijsters

In a true example of following your heart, Kim returned to tennis in 2009 after retiring from the sport to have her baby girl, Jade Elle in 2008. Even during the early stages of motherhood, Kim trained tirelessly and went on to win her second US Open title in 2009. That’s not all, Kim was also the first mother to win a major since 1980. Nice one Kim!

Margaret Court

Talk about business as usual - Margaret Court played professional tennis when pregnant and was only narrowly defeated by Evonne Goolagong at the 1972 Wimbledon Championship match. A year later she came back fighting and won the 1973 US, Australian and French Opens with her son Daniel in tow. What a woman.

Evonne Goolagong

In 1977 Evonne took a rest from tennis to have her baby girl, Kelly. In 1980 she came back swinging (literally!) and landed a Wimbledon Grand Slam title. This became her seventh major win, alongside a clutch of single and doubles triumphs at the Australian Open. Boom!

Casey Dellacqua

This is one tennis mama whose career has accelerated since becoming a mum to baby boy Blake in 2013. She’s often talked about the positives and challenges of being a young mum and a professional tennis player.

“Suddenly our world changed where it became all about Blake, and it became about what was best for him. I think that only helped my tennis, because from that moment on my priorities definitely changed. I’m out here to provide for my family, and I absolutely love the game and I love working hard.”

In 2014 Casey made it to the quarter final of the BNP Paribas Open.

There are so many amazing women out there who we can look up to, not only in tennis, but in a number of other sports too.

And to all you 'non-professionals' (like me!) keeping fit and active the best way YOU know how whilst being a rockstar mum - I salute you!
